BUSINESS OF THE DAY: Truckin’ Around Town

TODAY'S AGENDA

When you’re driving around, have your child look for trucks or vans with words on them. Examples: A plumbing service truck, a doggie day care van, a car delivering food.

THE PRESENTATION SLIDE WITH TODAY'S OBJECTIVES: Why You're Doing This

  • Introduce your child to different types of businesses, services, and jobs.
  • Talk with your child about different things that people do for their jobs. Then, talk to your child about what you and/or your spouse do for your job(s).

THE FAMILY CONFERENCE CALL: Questions to Talk About Together

  • What does it say on the side of the truck, van, and/or car?
  • Where do you think that vehicle is going?
  • What kind of work do the people in the truck do?
  • Why do you think they would put their information on their vehicle?
  • What makes that “advertisement” memorable?

STOCK TIP

Parents, if you’re driving and cannot see that respective vehicle’s wording, keep the conversation going with general questions. Your child can help continue the story from there.
