BUSINESS OF THE DAY: That Truck is on a Mission.
TODAY'S AGENDA
While running errands or traveling, challenge your child to look out the window for large vans or trucks with signs/letters/words printed on the side.
THE PRESENTATION SLIDE WITH TODAY'S OBJECTIVES: Why You're Doing This
- Educate your child on the variety of advertising or publicity messages on vehicles, and why a company or business would choose to do that.
- Introduce your child to the concept of shipping and distribution.
- Allow your child to imagine a business scenario where a company needs to transport a product; Explain how shipping plays a role in delivering items to a store or the company that makes a product.
THE FAMILY CONFERENCE CALL: Questions to Talk About Together
- Select one specific van or truck - where could the truck be going? Where do you think that truck is coming from? What’s the license plate say? Or is there a city and/or state printed somewhere on the truck?
- What might be in that truck? What’s the safest way to pack and ship products when they travel on the road?
- If a product doesn’t travel by truck, how else do you think a company could get a product from one location to another?
- Why is there a sign or words or pictures on the side of the truck?
STOCK TIP
Parents, this can be a small and strong lesson to do together in the car while on a road trip. Have fun imagining where the truck might be going and what might be inside it. (Toys? Toothpaste? Lots and lots of socks? The possibilities are endless.)
